🍪 Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
- 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup brown sugar (packed)
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (or chunks)
- Optional: 1 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
Instructions
🧈 1. Cream the Butter and Sugars
In a large bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
🍳 2. Add Wet Ingredients
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then add vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
🌾 3. Mix Dry Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture until just combined (don’t overmix!).
🍫 4. Add Chocolate Chips
Stir in the chocolate chips (and nuts, if using).
🧤 5. Chill (Optional but Recommended)
For thicker, chewier cookies, chill the dough in the fridge for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
🔥 6. Bake
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough and place 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9–11 minutes, until edges are golden brown but centers still look slightly soft.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
💡 Tips
- For extra gooey cookies, use chunks of dark chocolate or a mix of chips.
- Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top before baking for a gourmet touch.
- Freeze dough balls for up to 3 months — bake straight from frozen, adding 1–2 minutes to the baking time.
